Oh man. This new volunteer-based bike co-op, the Bike Farm, just opened up riiiight by my house! I'm kinda deliriously excited. It's located at 1303 NE Roselawn, which for some reason isn't mentioned on the website.

The Bicycle Farm is a non-profit learning space run by volunteers who believe that bicycles are an ideal (and fun!) mode of transportation. Our mission is to promote the bicycle as a fun, safe, and accessible form of transportation, to foster healthy urban communities, and to provide a welcoming space to learn about building maintaining, and riding bicycles.

The Bike Farm is entirely volunteer-based, with core members and volunteers, both of whom can earn privileges based on time and commitment.

bike love. <3

Daycare Punk House!

Alright, having woken up this morning at the god forsaken hour of 7:30, I tried to take a little nap around 10:30. It was going well, but then a bugger of an idea popped into my head: DAYCARE PUNK HOUSE!

The idea is pretty simple: a bunch of punks find a house, start a day care, and use the proceeds towards rent, freeing themselves from normal jobs. If you get enough people living in the house, the weekly work for each roomie would be minimal. With five folks, there could be one shift per roomie per week. Not bad.

I punched the numbers a bit, and I think we could get by with having about seven kids and charging families just $2.50 an hour.

If you're interested, let me know. I figure it would take us a few months to find some more roomies, find a house, and attract families.
